Hey Champions! We’ve got some exciting news about the Alert system that will be in today’s update.
Alerts will be going through some changes that will improve everyone’s gameplay experience. The Champs team has been working hard to ensure that all players will have an enjoyable experience when playing Alerts, and we’re happy to introduce these changes to you today.
First, and foremost, the rewards for Grab and Smash Alerts are swapping. Grabs will now award XP and an XP buff, while Smashes will award Resources and a Resources buff. We made this change after seeing that low-level characters were often queuing for Smash Alerts to receive the XP boosts. As you veteran Heroes know, Smashes are the most demanding of the random Alerts due to the time limit, and low level characters tend to have difficulty completing the Alerts. This makes for a lesser than ideal gameplay experience for both veterans and new comers.
To solve this problem we decided to switch the rewards for the Alerts, and we also created a level gating system. Grab Alerts will require a level 10 character, while Smash Alerts will require you to at least level your hero to level 20. For those who are new to the game, we want to encourage you to explore what Millennium City has to offer before you decide to enter into these battles. We also feel that Grab Alerts offer a much more enjoyable experience because it is more manageable for their level. For our veterans, this should ensure a more rewarding gameplay experience because you will now be queuing with more experienced players.
Now that Smash alerts require a higher level, characters at max level will now have a reason to run the hardest Alert type. As a bonus, since smashes can be run very quickly, you should see your Resources/hour earnings from Alerts go up. We want to also note that Burst Alert rewards will remain the same; however you will have to be at least level 15 to enter the queue for the alert.
Last but not least, the queues are now structured so that there will always be one Grab, one Burst, and one Smash available at a time. By funneling players looking for a specific Alert into the same queue, we hope to mildly improve queue times. This will make it significantly easier to find a specific Alert type to finish one of Lt. Patel's daily missions.
Below is a quick breakdown of the changes and the level gates:
- Grab Alerts (granting XP) require level 10+
- Burst Alerts (granting mods) require level 15+, when you begin finding slotted upgrades
- Smash Alerts (granting Resources) require level 20+, when most character builds are capable of succeeding at them
- Custom Alerts require level 20+
We hope everyone will enjoy these changes and we hope to see you all in Millennium City queuing up for some Alerts!
