Freeform Slots are permanent customization. When you get a freeform slot, you’ll have one new slot you can create a new character in, and that character will always have freeform power choice. Whether you’re Gold or not, that character will always be freeform, now and forever.

For that character, the only difference between freeform and Gold is that you won’t be able to hue shift their powers – everything else, even cross-specializing in Munitions and Celestial power sets, is completely fair game.
